These images show a woman's dramatic weight fluctuations as she went from just 56lbs to a staggering 221lbs during a crippling battle with eating disorders. Brittany Bergunder, 26, from San Luis Obispo, CA, was a champion horseback rider and tennis player when she developed anorexia at the age of 13. She then spent the rest of her teenage years in and out of rehab clinics as she struggled to get to grips with her eating disorders. By the time she was 20 her condition became so bad that she was forced into hospital when her weight dropped to just 56lbs. Brittany spent months on her hospital bed and was not expected to survive her ordeal - her distraught parents even began to make funeral arrangements. Astonishingly, she managed to survive and quickly began to pile on weight. But Brittany was still not cured and amazingly her eating disorder shifted from weight loss to weight gain as she started to ferociously binge eat. In just three months she gained 70lbs and put on a total of 160lbs in the course of one year, until she weighed a staggering 221lbs. But through the support of her family and through her passion of horseback ridding Brittany was able to overcome her eating disorder. She has since made a full recovery and has written a book about her struggles called 'Safety In Numbers: From 56 To 221 Pounds, My Battle With Eating Disorders'. The book will be released in January 2016.
